Day 3 - Momentum
Today is a chance to continue moving forward, despite my shortcomings. Last night I found myself a bit compromised after having a few IPAs. Not the worst sleep, though not the best. Today I will begin slowing the beer consumption. I am telling myself now to abstain from consumption of beer until Friday, and then, ensure that I only consume a single beer.
I have a confession... I think I may be addicted to craft IPAs. Something about the bitter notes in the hops just keeps me thirsty for more. It doesn't help that IPAs are usually heavier on the calories. Calories that I don't need. Calories that are keeping me from my goals. Even saying that to myself, through these words as I type, I feel motivated to abstain.
This morning I switched the podcast listening back to Lex Fridman. In this episode he is interviewing David Sinclair, another inspirational figure. David Sinclair is brilliant man who is focused on extending length and quality of human life through his research. I've only started listening to the word exchange and I am already thrilled. There certainly is something to auditing a conversation between two accomplished individuals.
Today is also a rest-day. I ran about 2km yesterday in the intense mid-day heat. That was tough. I made a poor decision and 'treated' myself to a beef-brisket topped poutine from a food truck. The beef was tender, smokey, and delicious, though I felt rather heavy afterwards and I did not even finish the poutine, which I felt was an example of wisdom I have never before exercised in regards to poutine. Time to start considering the quality of my fuel, not just the timing.
This afternoon I will spend some time building that calisthenics routine I mentioned yesterday. It has been a personal goal of mine for quite some time to be able to pull off a human flag-pole... maybe I should start documenting that process... document all the things...
